The shirt was inspired by the US Seal. There are two versions of the seal- when the eagles head is turned towards the olive branch it means we're in a time of peace and when the eagles head is turned towards the arrows we're in a time of war. I figured the US Soccer team represented both, through sportsmanship and giving its opponents hell every game. So, the the eagle on the AO shirt is looking at both the olive branch and the arrows, representing both Peace and War at the same time.
