US v Colombia Scouting Report (Chester, PA 10/12/10)

USA vs. Colombia (International Friendly)
10/12/10 Chester, PA PPL Park
AO SCOUTING REPORT
The 2nd of 2 games in quick succession for the US is upon us. The yanks travel to Philly to face Colombia at the new PPL Park.
The US showed signs of good play against the Polish on Saturday, but gave up 2 goals from 2 defensive mistakes to muster a
draw at Soldier Field. Jermaine Jones, other than his backpass that gifted Poland their 2nd equalizer, showed his outstanding
distribution quality in his first cap. Mo Edu was inconsistent alongside Gooch in their first partnership at defense. Clearly, Bradley wants Jr, Jones, and Edu all on the field, and rightfully so. Boca and Dolo return to their clubs, while Brek Shea and Heath Pearce join after leaving club duty with FC Dallas. Other than that the squad stays the same:
GK: Howard, Guzan
DEF: Pearce, Onyewu, Parkhurst, Lichaj
MID: Bradley, Feilhaber, Bedoya, Edu, Holden, Jones, Shea
FOR: Johnson, Altidore, Dempsey
Colombia coach Hernan Dario Gomez will be looking to boost his squad’s confidence in preparation for next summer’s
Copa America. The obvious would be Ivan Cordoba, but the Inter left-back misses out through injury. FC Porto’s Falcao will be expected to be the creativity man through the midfield. A very talented young playmaker, with a bright future in Europe.
Other than that, you won’t know anyone. Last time out the US fell 1-0 in the Copa America, albeit was a weakened US squad.
Hopefully more than 8,000 fans will roll into PPL Park on Tuesday evening. Philly has been known for excellent attendance for Union games, but a wealth of games has left the supporters spoiled. No doubt, the River End will be rocking with Son’s of Ben and AO. Props to my boys in SOB for partnering up with AO Philly for the tailgate and gameday festivities. It should be a great time for those in the section.
Look for a shaken lineup from 4 days ago. Would be nice to see more than 1 sub….. But what Bob wants, Bob gets.
Get to the game, get to the viewing parties. May be our last game for a couple of months.
Big shout out to our boys in AO Chicago for helping with festivities last weekend. March was epic as usual.
Holler at your boy when you see him in the streets.
